PRINCETON, N.J. - October 6, 2015 Broadband Technology Report’s 2015 Diamond Technology Reviews

Triveni Digital today announced that its StreamScope® RM-40, the cable industry’s most comprehensive closed-caption, CALM, and video monitoring system, received a 3.5 rating with honorable mention in Broadband Technology Report’s (BTR) 2015 Diamond Technology Reviews program. StreamScope was honored for its new closed-caption monitoring capability and high-resolution report generation for compliance verification within 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GigE) networking infrastructures. Utilizing the platform, cable operators can effectively monitor video and audio transport streams, as well as closed-caption information, for multiple TV services in order to improve viewers’ quality of service and increase their revenue streams.

“For the past 10 years, the Diamond Technology Reviews program has been a key resource for cable operators looking to keep in tune with the latest technology innovations,” said Tim Hermes, founder and publisher, Broadband Technology Report. “Triveni Digital’s StreamScope RM-40 received special recognition from our panel of judges since it addresses two major challenges facing the cable community: ensuring compliance with closed-caption regulations and making a smooth transition to a 10GigE networking infrastructure.”

The Diamond Technology Reviews is a renowned industry program recognizing the top products and solutions available to the cable industry. Rankings are determined by a prestigious panel of cable telecommunications engineering experts, including executives from Bright House Networks, Charter and Cox, Comcast, Suddenlink Communications, and Time Warner Cable. Technology submissions are ranked on a scale of one to five Diamonds according to a variety of criteria, such as innovation, ease of use, efficiency, reliability, and contribution to profitability.

The StreamScope RM-40 includes next-generation closed-caption monitoring capabilities that enable operators to comply with FCC 14-12, the U.S. government’s new closed-captioning regulation for television programming. By ensuring that all closed captions are accurate, synchronized, complete, and appropriately placed on-screen per FCC 14-12, the StreamScope RM-40 maximizes viewer satisfaction while helping cable operators avoid fines. The StreamScope RM-40 platform is designed to monitor multiple inputs simultaneously, including QAM, ASI, GigE, 8-VSB, and SMPTE-310, for rule-based monitoring of industry standards and customized performance targets. Using the platform, operators can continuously monitor EIA-608, EIA-708-E, SCTE 20, and SCTE 21 closed captions encoded in MPEG-2 and AVC (H.264) for linear video services.

The StreamScope RM-40 also features a high-throughput 10GigE interface that is better suited to meet the high-bandwidth demands of today’s cable operators. Through the StreamScope RM-40’s high-throughput 10GigE interface, operators can quickly and cost-effectively reduce, locate, and eliminate transport stream errors while saving significant rack space, reducing power consumption, and minimizing operating expenses.

“We are thrilled to receive a 3.5 Diamond rating with honorable mention from the BTR Diamond Technology Reviews program,” said Ralph Bachofen, vice president of sales and marketing at Triveni Digital. “As the industry continues the migration toward higher bandwidth networking infrastructure, the StreamScope platform will allow operators to proactively identify and resolve video and audio quality issues, from the 10GigE core network all the way to the edge QAM, helping reduce capital and operational expenses while enabling them to drive new revenue.”

Triveni Digital will demonstrate StreamScope RM-40 at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo®, booth 1709, Oct. 13-16 in New Orleans.
