Simple Software Upgrade Seamlessly Adds Mobile DTV Metadata Capabilities to Broadcasters’ Established Workflow

Triveni Digital today announced that the company has enhanced its GuideBuilder™ metadata platform to provide broadcasters with unified terrestrial and mobile DTV metadata management and generation capabilities from a single platform. Available to existing GuideBuilder users as a simple software upgrade, or to new customers as a separate standalone server, the mobile metadata software extension to Triveni Digital’s market-leading GuideBuilder PSIP generator allows broadcasters to deploy robust mobile DTV broadcasts while leveraging their existing workflows with virtually no impact on existing operational procedures.

The GuideBuilder PSIP generator is well established as a tool that enables broadcasters to meet the FCC’s PSIP requirements, ensure the viewability of their DTV broadcasts, and enhance over-the-air DTV service. The system provides mission-critical operational capabilities for both content providers and network operators by generating accurate metadata ? the foundation for ATSC digital television transport streams ? whether broadcast for television sets or mobile devices.
The addition of new capabilities to GuideBuilder for mobile DTV enables transmission of mobile metadata to mobile ATSC receivers, in turn allowing users to select and change viewing channels. While supplying information about current show, duration, rating, and other characteristics, the mobile DTV enhancements to GuideBuilder also support the delivery and display of parental control data.
Fully automated redundancy, support for centralized PSIP generation, and tight integration with multiplexers, traffic systems, and automation systems make it easy to incorporate GuideBuilder into existing broadcast infrastructures. As a result, GuideBuilder addresses the demands of the mobile landscape while facilitating best-of-breed integration with other station elements, and allows broadcasters to repurpose their current investment in systems and training.
