Triveni Digital StreamScope™ Delivers Business Intent Assurance Through New Connectivity With GuideBuilder™
StreamScope Real-Time Transport-Stream Monitor and Analyzers Now Verify Metadata Compliance With DTV Signal Standards and Business Intents
PRINCETON, NJ - April 10, 2007

Triveni Digital, a subsidiary of LG Electronics, today announced that its StreamScope™ family of real-time DTV transport-stream monitors and analyzers now guarantees the business intent of its users through a new closed-loop feature, “Business Intent Assurance,” that provides a link to the company’s GuideBuilder™ metadata (PSI/PSIP) management system. With this enhancement, not only can StreamScope verify that streams generated by the GuideBuilder are accurately distributed throughout the broadcast infrastructure from a standards perspective, but it also automatically ensures that they comply with the broadcaster’s business model.

“With all the benefits of DTV broadcasting come a number of pitfalls and challenges, one of which is the difficulty of ensuring the integrity of the transport stream,” said Ralph Bachofen, director of product management and marketing at Triveni Digital. “Our StreamScope systems give users unusual depth in monitoring and analyzing the MPEG stream for standards compliance. Now, thanks to our new closed-loop feature, StreamScope goes beyond standards compliance by verifying that the output transport stream meets the business requirements of the broadcaster’s DTV transmission as well.”

StreamScope clearly signals whether standards conformance has been met, but operating alone it does not address the business intent of customers as streams are distributed. While outgoing streams may comply with common standards, it still may be possible that a multiplexer has dropped a virtual channel or two off-air, or that the number of days in the PSIP data is not sufficient to complete the electronic program guide (EPG). The newly established connectivity between StreamScope products and the GuideBuilder solves this problem, bringing business intent into the realm of monitoring and analysis.

Through Triveni Digital’s BIA interface, DTV streams can be measured against industry standards, as well as standards set by the broadcaster according to its business model. StreamScope products can be configured to dispatch prioritized alerts when either the standard or the business intent is not met. Deployment of the BIA solution requires only a simple network connection between the StreamScope and GuideBuilder systems. Thus, broadcasters can implement DTV stream standards compliance and business intent verification at all critical locations within the station network, whether local or remote.
