Triveni Digital’s Enhanced StreamScope™ Product Line First to Support New ATSC A/78 Monitoring for Transport Stream Verification
PRINCETON, NJ - February 14, 2007

Triveni Digital, a subsidiary of LG Electronics and leading provider of systems for the management and distribution of data and metadata in DTV streams, announced today that its StreamScope™ product family is the first monitoring system in the DTV industry to support the newly released ATSC Transport Stream Verification Recommended Practice, A/78. A/78 was developed to meet the needs of broadcasters, allowing early detection of those errors that most impact the viewing experience, but still may go unnoticed by station engineers. The StreamScope MT-40 and RM-40 models both support the error severity prioritization defined in A/78, allowing the broadcaster to detect and correct service impairments quickly in order of importance. “Our new Recommended Practice was designed to meet the real-world operational requirements of broadcasters,” said Mark Richer, ATSC president. “It is likely to become the basis for DTV transport stream monitoring strategies.” Triveni Digital’s StreamScope product family allows real-time monitoring and analysis of transport streams from service providers such as broadcasters, cable operators, telcos, IPTV, and mobile TV operators. MT-40 provides the capability for in-depth, real-time troubleshooting and analysis for multiple signals over all commonly encountered physical layers. RM-40 provides unattended remote monitoring of transport streams, and offers a rich set of notification capabilities if error conditions are encountered. Enhanced connectivity between StreamScope products allows a centralized and enterprise-wide monitoring architecture to be practically implemented in order to pinpoint problems occurring anywhere in the system. As individual products, RM-40 and MT-40 have many powerful capabilities, however, when used in combination with Triveni Digital’s GuideBuilder™ (PSIP generator), they provide the broadcaster with a powerful set of tools to ensure both standards and business intent compliance. “Monitoring is key to keeping broadcast operations running smoothly,” said Ralph Bachofen, director of product management and marketing at Triveni Digital. “StreamScope products simplify DTV stream broadcasting and monitoring significantly, reducing the number of service errors and making the station manager’s job easier. This ensures greater customer retention, which means higher revenues for the broadcaster.”
