PRINCETON, NJ — September 6, 2006 — Triveni Digital IBC Stand #3.139
Triveni Digital, a subsidiary of LG Electronics, develops systems that provide for the management and distribution of data and metadata in digital television streams, is debuting its remote appliance for DVB stream monitoring at IBC2006. Enhanced DVB System Information (DVB-SI) support allows the monitoring system to view both the video stream and associated metadata to ensure integrity, reliability, and standards compliance. The real-time StreamScope™ RM-40 system verifies digital television streams carried by service providers such as broadcasters, cable operators, telcos, IPTV and mobile TV operators.
Errors in DVB-SI data can cause serious problems such as DTV tuners not
finding a specific channel, teletext not appearing, or programs not being
listed in electronic program guides (EPGs). Assuring that transport streams
are valid and rapidly troubleshooting any anomalies are critical for
maintaining network integrity and viewer satisfaction. RM-40 units placed at
various points throughout a broadcast operation validate critical
alterations of these streams as they move through the network or from one
site to another for distribution. This accelerates the isolation and repair
of problems when they occur.
“The RM-40 further extends Triveni Digital’s suite of MPEG monitoring and
metadata management and insertion systems for DVB networks by allowing
customers to place the unit at key points throughout their operational
facilities,” said Ralph Bachofen, Director of Product Management at Triveni
Digital. “This new system, in conjunction with Triveni Digital’s
GuideBuilder SI generator, also offers the Business Intent Assurance™
feature, thereby providing an automated system for validating standards
compliance as well as authenticating the delivery of streams as contracted
for delivery from other service providers.”
The RM-40 supports the use of web browsers for remote access and system
configuration. The system can be monitored from any SNMP agent in the
network and alarms can be distributed via e-mail, SMS, or SNMP traps. The
small form factor unit is virtually maintenance free and may be placed
anywhere in the broadcast network including repeater stations where there
may be no on-site staff.
Key features of the StreamScope RM-40 for remote monitoring and analysis
provide:
• An easy to use and read information summary window allows viewing of
transport stream errors at a glance
• Stream recording for troubleshooting and analysis
• Rapid remote problem identification
• Notification for the dispatch of support personnel for critical alarms
• Enhanced quality of service
• Viewer retention
• Improved asset utilization
• Reduced operational expense
Available inputs to the StreamScope RM-40
remote monitoring appliance include QAM, Gigabit Ethernet (optical and
copper), QPSK, COFDM, ASI, SMPTE-310 and 8-VSB.
The StreamScope RM-40 will be on display at IBC2006 along with Triveni
Digital’s GuideBuilder™ system for generating accurate DVB-SI. The system’s
versatility and field proven capabilities have made it the system of choice
for DTV metadata generation and management. The GuideBuilder system provides
support for the following DVB infrastructures -- DVB-T, DVB-C, and DVB-S --
ensuring compliance with DVB standards across the entire distribution/
transmission chain.
