Mega Hertz and Triveni Digital are showcasing an emergency alert system (EAS) for digital simulcast networks at SCTE’s Cable-Tec Expo. The demonstration features Triveni Digital’s StreamBridge™ CR30 EAS and can be seen from June 21-23, 2006 at Mega Hertz booth #356. The CR30 extends existing EAS headend solutions that were designed for analog cable ready TVs and digital set-top boxes, to also include CableCARD or Digital Cable Ready (DCR) receivers. The system allows operators to automate the management of both national and highly localized EAS messages. The StreamBridge™ solution can support multiple EAS zones and offers multiple simultaneous network interfaces.

StreamBridge CR30 retrieves information from EAS receivers collecting emergency alerts from federal, state and local agencies via RF broadcasts, phone calls, etc. The unit converts these alerts to appropriate SCTE 18 messages that are then inserted into the digital multiplexes being broadcast to homes. These messages direct the DCR receivers to either display a text crawl or force the receiver to tune to a details A/V channel. Easy to install and configure, the CR30 system utilizes existing EAS headend equipment to enable the seamless incorporation of new capabilities.
