Triveni Digital Introduces Low Cost, Remote Appliance for DTV Stream Monitoring
StreamScope™ RM-40 Monitors Real-Time DTV Streams to Ensure Integrity, Reliability and Standards Compliance

PRINCETON, NJ — April 7, 2006

With digital television (DTV), broadcasters and MSOs are constructing increasingly complex systems for the production and distribution of programming. Triveni Digital is introducing the StreamScope™ RM-40 to address the industry’s need for a low cost, remote monitoring appliance. RM-40 units placed at various points throughout a broadcast operation validate critical transformations of DTV streams as they move through the equipment chain or from one site to another for distribution. This accelerates the isolation and repair of problems when they occur. The new real-time RM-40 system will debut at NAB2006 in Triveni Digital’s booth #SU1999.

A wide variety of equipment plays a part in the modification and transport of content throughout the plant. Assuring that the program streams created are valid and troubleshooting any anomalies rapidly across the enterprise are critical for maintaining network integrity and viewer satisfaction. Consequently, Triveni Digital’s popular StreamScope monitoring lineup has been markedly enhanced to encompass a broad range of options for enterprise-wide stream monitoring and troubleshooting.

“Working with our customers’ requests to expand our StreamScope product family, we designed the RM-40 for distributed network-wide monitoring with remote accessibility options,” said Ralph Bachofen, Director of Product Management at Triveni Digital. “This new system, in conjunction with Triveni Digital’s GuideBuilder PSIP generator, also offers the Business Intent Assurance™ feature. The feature provides an automated system for validation of compliance with standards and with the business expectations for the programming, such as number and characteristics of multicast programs, or bandwidth allocations. The RM-40 also provides a method for validating the delivery of streams as contracted for delivery by other service providers.”

The user-friendly RM-40 system verifies DTV streams carried by service providers such as broadcasters, cable operators, telcos, IPTV and mobile TV operators. Like all other StreamScope systems, the RM-40 remotely monitors, measures and records DTV streams to ensure their integrity, reliability, and compliance with standards as well as business expectations.

The system supports the use of web browsers for remote access and system configuration. The RM-40 can be monitored from any SNMP agent in the network and alarms can be distributed via email, SMS, or SNMP traps. The small form factor unit is virtually maintenance free and may be placed anywhere in the broadcast network including repeater stations where there may be no on-site staff.

StreamScope RM-40 remote monitoring appliance achieves:
• Rapid remote problem identification
• Notification for the dispatch of support personnel for critical alarms
• Enhanced quality of service
• Viewer retention
• Improved asset utilization
• Reduced OPEX

The StreamScope RM-40 will be available in the second quarter of 2006.
