Triveni Digital Showcases Systems for EAS, Digital Cue Tone, PSIP/SI Insertion, Stream Monitoring and an Automated Receiver Test Environment at SCTE’s Cable-Tec Expo 2005
StreamBridge™ CR30, StreamScope™ Systems and iScope™ Environment Deliver Key Features for Maximizing Marketing Programs While Minimizing Costs and Troubleshooting Time
San Antonio, TX — June 15, 2005 — Cable-Tec Expo, Triveni Digital Booth #1127

Triveni Digital is showcasing cable headend systems for Emergency Alert System (EAS), digital cue tone and program insertion, and PSIP/SI insertion, grooming and translation at SCTE’s Cable-Tec Expo 2005 in San Antonio, June 15-17, in their booth #1127. The company is also displaying its enhanced stream monitoring system and a new automated receiver test environment.

The StreamBridge™ CR30, StreamScope™ systems and iScope™ environment maximize an operator’s ability to expand both marketing programs and ad revenues while minimizing operational costs and troubleshooting time. The systems enable cable operators to manage and distribute both data and metadata within digital television streams and provide the information required for the consumer to view and interact with on-screen programming guides, PVRs and other emerging devices.

StreamBridge Systems Support EAS, DPI, PSIP/SI Insertion, Grooming and Management
The carriage of off-air digital streams poses a number of challenges for cable operators. The generation and translation of digital EAS, digital cue tones, PSIP/SI, by the StreamBridge systems eliminates those technical barriers while enabling operators to more easily brand and promote programming across different channels. StreamBridge is offered in three basic configurations to minimize operational costs and integrate with all commonly used (legacy and new) headend multiplexing and control systems.

The StreamBridge EAS system allows operators to automate the management of both national and highly localized EAS messages. The system is fed by EAS receivers that receive emergency alerts from federal, state and local agencies via RF broadcasts, phone calls, etc. The system converts these alerts to appropriate SCTE 18 messages which are then inserted into the digital multiplexes being broadcast to homes. These messages direct the DCR receivers to either display a text crawl or force the receiver to tune to a details A/V channel. The CR30 system utilizes existing EAS headend equipment, enables seamless incorporation of new capabilities, is easy to install and configure and has little if any operational burden. The system also processes SCTE 18 messages and PSIP messages in a unified manner to prevent corruption of either of these types of metadata.

The cue tone translation feature of the StreamBridge DPI system allows analog cue tones to be converted to SCTE 35 messages that can be embedded with the digital content for downstream ad insertion. The feature eliminates the additional infrastructure capital cost of cue tone transportation and the additional operational cost of maintaining a parallel distribution infrastructure. Both SCTE 104 and SCTE 35 protocols are supported.

The StreamBridge PSIP system provides PSIP/SI generation and grooming capabilities that are SCTE standards compliant for CableCARD / Digital Cable Ready TV receivers. Channel line-up and configuration information data may be imported from a number of sources including Tribune Media Services (TMS), TV Guide Data Service and various traffic and automation systems. The system allows for the easy addition and management of services (virtual channels) and their descriptions. These features can be used for cross-channel promotion, operator branding, and advertising of premium services on the IPGs of CableCARD receivers.

New Features Available for the StreamScope Real-Time DTV Transport Stream Monitoring and Analysis System
Triveni Digital’s StreamScope MT-30 real-time DTV transport stream monitoring and analysis system has significant new features including ASI playout, GigE analysis with PCR, and template-based verification. The MT30’s sophisticated distributed monitoring architecture is enhanced with 5th generation 8-VSB receiver technology. A visualization station may be configured to monitor multiple systems over an Intranet or Internet connection. The award-winning graphical interface, with an at-a-glance transport stream summary display, saves engineering troubleshooting time by translating complex information into easy-to-read status indicators and messages. StreamScope MT-30 can display HD and SD audio/video programs of all ATSC, DVB and SCTE formats.

iScope ARTE Powers Standard Test Suites for Set-top Boxes and Receivers
Debuting at Cable-Tec Expo, is the new iScope™ ARTE (Automated Receiver Test Environment) for automated testing and validation of OCAP/ACAP/MHP applications on a variety of set-top boxes and receivers. It enables execution of standard test suites like the CableLabs OCAP-Test Suite on such receivers. The test suite contains an exhaustive set of test cases that exercise all of the APIs specified in the standard. It also supports the execution of customized test suites as well as complete interactive applications. The tool delivers test applications and associated files to a collection of target receivers, executes them, gathers results of resource usage and execution status, and provides summary reports.
