Triveni Digital to Demonstrate Enhanced GuideBuilder Family of Psip Generation Systems for Atsc Dtv Broadcasters at Nab2003
New Features of GuideBuilder™ 3.0 Include Support for Broadcast Flags, Centralcasting, and Distributed Control through Remote User Interfaces
PRINCETON, NJ — February 14, 2003

Triveni Digital, the leading solutions provider for data-enhanced digital broadcasting, will demonstrate GuideBuilder™ 3.0 at NAB2003 in booth # SU5475. Worldwide, DTV broadcasters use the GuideBuilder metadata management systems to collect, translate, manage, and generate PSIP metadata compliant with the ATSC/A65 standard. The complete product family has been enhanced to support the Broadcast Flag, centralcasting, and distributed control through remote user interfaces. These and other features of the GuideBuilder systems allow broadcasters to comply with the ATSC PSIP standard, retain their market branding, and protect their channel identities in on-screen Electronic Program Guides (EPGs).

ATSC-defined Broadcast Flags for redistribution control may be inserted into the digital stream by GuideBuilder 3.0 systems. This flag assists in the protection of programs from unauthorized redistribution, allowing DTV broadcasters to secure high value content. The professional version of GuideBuilder 3.0 supports multiple channels (transports) and virtual channels (services) -- perfect for centralcasting -- where there will be multiple outputs that each carry localized PSIP metadata. Remote user interfaces provide distributed control by placing the user interfaces where the tasks are physically located. To reduce training costs for broadcasters, user interfaces are task-oriented -- such as programming, engineering, and master control.

DTV Broadcasters can Cost-Effectively Generate and Manage PSIP Data with Triveni Digital's GuideBuilder Systems.

The GuideBuilder system family continues to be renowned for its wide range of data interfaces. Data can be imported from a large number of sources including Tribune Media Services, Myers ProTrack, Scout, Storers SIMS, Encoda Systems and other file or message based interfaces. GuideBuilder generates ATSC PSIP metadata based on these inputs from broadcast plant equipment, external services and manually compiled program listings. It then feeds the PSIP tables automatically into the outgoing ATSC transport stream by interfacing to the encoder or the multiplexer. GuideBuilder provides compatibility with the leading MPEG-2 encoders and multiplexers. GuideBuilder systems enable DTV broadcasters to collect, translate, generate and manage EPG metadata that are fully ATSC PSIP compliant without staff additions and expensive retraining.
