Triveni Digital Provides "Receiver-Friendly" DTV Signal Distribution at CES 2002
Product Helps Receivers Tune Correctly, Provides Rich EPG Data, Preserves Station Branding and Can Be Utilized for Local Cable Feeds
Las Vegas, NV, Jan. 8, 2000

Triveni Digital, a leader in data enhanced broadcasting, enabled ATSC DTV signals with rigorously implemented PSIP data to be distributed throughout the 2002 International CES exhibit floors, jointly with Turner Engineering, America’s premier site integrator and technology firm. Triveni Digital's StreamBridge™ product was used in this effort of receiving network TV satellite feeds and local DTV station signal for distribution within the exhibit halls at Las Vegas Convention Center where the CES event is being held until January 11. StreamBridge receives, translates and retransmits PSIP (Program and System Information Protocol) data in the received ATSC signal so that the PSIP data is correctly modified to fit local signal requirements and comply with ATSC standards. "We are happy to work with Turner Engineering for the second year in a row to use our real-time PSIP translator in this important consumer electronics event. Without this system the DTV receivers will not be able to tune correctly nor will the stations be able to preserve their original branding," said Mark Simpson, President and CEO of Triveni Digital. "As the DTV transition forges ahead at full steam this year, rigorous implementation of PSIP will be more important. Moreover, PSIP has significant implications when a station’s DTV signal is carried by digital cable infrastructure to cable-ready DTV receivers. We are working with other industry leaders to help ATSC DTV signals travel through digital cable, and this will aid in greater penetration of DTV receiver products in a relatively shorter timeframe." Triveni Digital’s StreamBridge is also being utilized for translating PSIP data or other metadata for carriage over digital cable, so that the PSIP-capable cable DTV receivers can make use of the translated data for various applications including the EPG, and help local system operators comply with cross-carriage agreements.
