Triveni Digital Showcases Data Broadcasting Solutions
Demonstration of Real-Time ATVEF Content Insertion To Enable The Promise of Digital Television
Las Vegas, January 22, 2001

Triveni Digital (NATPE Booth 2462) furthers their mission of "Enabling The Promise of Digital Television" by demonstrating digital television (DTV) data broadcasting solutions at this year's NATPE Conference. Located in the DTV Post Production Pavilion in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, Triveni Digital is showing custom datacasting solutions with a focus on real-time ATVEF (Advanced Television Enhancement Forum) content insertion and live webcasting.

SkyScraper: Live Interactive TV Content Insertion
In a joint demonstration with Chyron Corporation (NATPE Booth 2365) at both the Triveni Digital and Chyron booths, the companies will show ATVEF content authoring and real-time insertion, using the Triveni Digital SkyScraper DataFab and Chyron's Lyric authoring tool. The demonstration will show the live insertion of interactive TV content into a DTV broadcast stream in real time. SkyScraper, a critical product for enabling interactive TV within a DTV broadcast facility, will be used to insert the interactive TV content, authored by Chyron, into the DTV broadcast. The interactive TV content conforms to the ATVEF Transport B specification and can be displayed by ATVEF compatible DTV set-top boxes and DTV television sets/receivers. The demonstration will show how content is created, inserted, broadcast and viewed interactively by the viewer. SkyScraper can also be used for secure data transmission of information not pertaining to the actual program being aired, opening up a new revenue stream for broadcasters.

SkyScraper: DTV Webcasting
In joint demonstrations with SpectraRep, Sun Microsystems (NATPE Booth 3837) and Landmark Communications' KLAS-DT (channel 7), Triveni Digital will demonstrate continuous streaming media support and live webcasting of the NATPE Conference using the KLAS-DT digital signal. The webcast will be received at multiple points within the Las Vegas Convention Center and represents an important application of DTV data broadcasting. Triveni Digital's SkyScraper allows the DTV broadcast station to become a provider of broadband IP multicast services to the home, and succeeds in solving the "last mile" problem encountered by similar wired services. DTV data broadcasting of broadband IP multicast services can provide new revenue sources for broadcasters in the digital age.

StreamDoctor: Free DTV Transport Stream Analysis Service
Triveni Digital announces that due to the requests of ATSC digital television stations signing on during the first quarter of 2001, that they are extending the duration of the free period for the StreamDoctor Analysis Service. StreamDoctor analyzes and reports problems with a station's DTV transport stream. StreamDoctor Analysis Service is now available through April 30, 2001 at no charge to DTV stations. Using Triveni Digital's StreamScope™ MT-20 steam monitor/analyzer, StreamDoctor analysis focuses primarily on ATSC Program and System Information Protocol (PSIP) standard, audio and video buffer usage, and Program Clock Reference (PCR) frequency and jitter. PSIP problems can interfere with DTV receivers tuning to the correct channels, proper primary language and how channel information is displayed in electronic program guides. All results are reported directly to the DTV station and are kept confidential and are not disclosed to any third party without the express permission of the station. Stations can sign up for the free StreamDoctor Analysis Service by sending an e-mail to StreamDoctor@TriveniDigital.com, dated no later than April 30, 2001.
